Brake Lines Req'd Urgy

Recommended Posts

just replacing my rear compensators for the MoT; suspected that the unions wouldn't want to come undone and wasn't disappointed :)

need four new pipes - the ones that run before and after the compensators (for both sides)

GSF and Euro don't list brake pipes so I'm not sure where to start looking

search names Automec pipes (mailorder), but I'm now in a bit of a rush and don't want to be waiting for stuff to turn up in the post - does anyone know where you can buy 'off the shelf' pipes in the Bristol area (preferably without having to take the pipes off to compare in the shop)

thanks all

i dont believe you can buy these off the shelf. quickest way is to buy the pipe, fixings and flaring tool and make them yourself. Best way is the automec kit though

I'll second Automec. Ordered two pipes tuesday lunchtime. The guy was extremely helpful and friendly, knew his stuff, and said he would send them out that day. I received them the following day.

cheers guys - didn't know you could order individual pipes, or that they turn up so quickly!

just spent 5hr taking the old pipes off - could have been worse judging from some of the stories on search!

and i only snapped one flexi hose bracket :) (!)

managed to salvage the front to rear pipes; unions were rounded, but i managed to get them off (with compensators) and sort it out in the vice

now that i've actually stripped it, i've found that i need two sets of the flexi to flexi and flexi to compensator pipes - not all of the unions were seized, but the copper pipe only wanted to turn with the unions, so i've twisted everything up

pipes are off though - good old Motor Aids in Yate should be making up some more tomorrow

might even make 3pm at Coombe!
