Rear Shox On This Set Up ?

Recommended Posts

Guest andy309goodwood

right i have a 309 goodwood

fitted so far

sbc road springs on billy street line shox up front on new cups with G/N rubbers

rear referbed beam lowered 1 spline (app) on baker mounts with the street line shox

my prob front is stiff as nails and i love it but the rear OMG seems really soft

if you go over a dip in the road (i tent to drive on the quicker side :) ) the front goes down and back up the other side no problem but the rear compresses on the way up out of the dip and then almost like a wave machen eventually settles just in time for the next bump abit like having no shox but in slow mo if that makes any sence

what im after is the back to be as stiff as the front

does any one have any suggegstions ?

as its doing my damned head in

cheers

andy

The only thing that works in this segment of Dampers, Are the Billies. Some Gp 'N' one will do the trick as will the lesser Sportline ones

Dealers for: Bilstein Sport Dampers. The rear ARB is really only for track use as it makes the turn in allot better.

special tuning, boutique pugsport or miles. Miles is the cheapest ive found so far.

I had gravel spec group Ns on the back of my old 309 and they were superb. Konis arent bad thou and are a hell of a lot cheaper, but id spend the extra and get the billies.

Miles recently did me some tarmac spec GpN rear Billies, on a refubed beam, with the 25mm ARB. Front custom Billy coilovers, and the sills of the car are 6 inches from the floor (Dont know exactely how much lowered by), but i must say the handling is awesome. Just sticks in the bends, and doesnt want to roll anywhere. Its not the supplest of rides, but then i wanted cornering ability, not shopping ability.

The car is also helped by solid rear beam mounts, Yoko A048's and a Quaiffe diff. 309 wishbones, and 309 ARB up front

Car handles like its on rails, but due to stiff rear end.... you can juggle the angle of the car in the bends (safely) by pedal control. (left foot anyone haha)

It may not be the penny-pinchers option to get the car to handle, but it is utterly awesome.. a big thanks to Miles and Greg for making the thing work so well.
