1.9 Driveshafts With 309 Wishbones

Thanks for that. I think I might try a spacer for interest, but if I do go 309 shaft (which I could as I just bust a CV boot with my wrench - doh), I guess I would need non-gti shafts to fit the 1.6 hubs? I.e. diesel ones or sri ones?

Yea I'd have gone with Jonnie's suggestion of a 3/4" drive bar - its surprising just how much more force you can put through this size and shows how much 1/2" drive stuff bends. I did the same snapped 2 breakers after using extension bars to undo the nut but eventually borrowed some 3/4" stuff and it came off so much easier.

 

I run a 205 RHS driveshaft (the long one) and a 309 passenger side; its the shorter passenger side that causes the problems as the longer shaft is held in with the 2 bolts at the bearing. Been like that for 18 months now.
