base-1 17 Posted April 15, 2006 Was just looking thrugh the parts CD to get beam tube part numbers (yes I am thinking about ringing Peugeot to see what they say....) and all 309s apparently use the same rear tube, except the GTi16? Does anybody know what's so special about the 16? I know it has thicker bars but that's no reason to have a different tube is it.... Is there an interesting/useful reason? One for our continental cousins perhaps.... get all the good stuff you lot! Cheers Rich
Anthony 1,003 Posted April 16, 2006 Alot of the GTi16 rear beam bits are different - I assumed it was a strengthening issue (as unlike 205's, the 309 GTi shares the same tube with the base models) but I might be wrong...
Ryan 99 Posted April 16, 2006 Does the GTI16 have a wider rear track width?
richsmells 2 Posted April 16, 2006 I was just looking at these on ebay.fr. I can so see myself going to pick one up. Everything you need ready to fit to a 205! http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?s...=309+gti16+beam In this thread Henry mentions the gti16 beam, but not sure what he means. Perhaps he will enlighten us.
jochem 0 Posted April 16, 2006 From what i've heard the gti16 beam has thicker arbs and the wheels end up with some negative camber.
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted April 16, 2006 The negative camber is in the trailling arms so it shouldn't effect the beam tube. Sounds a weird one why the tube is a different part number Infact here are all the different options on trailling arm Click, but this raises a new question on what is the difference between a 309 XU9J4 and a 309 GTI 16!!!!! The GTI 16 has a 21mm ARB Here compared to the standard 20mm one of a GTI here There ia also a heavy duty suspension option for the 309 too, as there was for the 205. Base 1 is right on the differing part number too here (assuming the GTI 16 is actually the XU9J4 as there are diagrams where it refers to both on the same page)

The 'GTI16' arms are listed as only being fitted in Austria, Swizerland and the Netherlands. The 'XU9J4' arms I guess are for everywhere else. No idea what the differences are. base-1 17 Posted April 16, 2006 Yeah I thought they had some kind of camber arrangement on the arms, maybe the tube is just stronger somehow! And how exactly is a GTi16 different to an XU9J4 ffs! Bloody frogs....
