Guest sunny-bono Posted April 15, 2006 Hi, i have noticed on a couple 205s that you get rust on the brake cylinder. is this normal? my last one had some but i never really took any notice. But now i am rather concerned. Is the normal, should i worry? How much would it cost roughly to get them swapped? ( i doubt i could do the work myself) Thanks
hengti 2 Posted April 15, 2006 do you mean the master cylinder under the bonnet, or the wheel cylinders on the 1.6 drums? it's normal in either case - no need to worry
Guest sunny-bono Posted April 15, 2006 should have been clearer. sorry under the boneet, top left hand side when at the front (not like you would be looking from any where else really ). why do they rust? is the brake fluid coming from the between the unions? can it ever get really sever? ie mot failure? Anthony 1,003 Posted April 15, 2006 The body of the master cylinders do rust pretty quickly - the brand new one I fitted to my car just six months back is already looking a little rusty As said though, it's only cosmetic and nothing to really worry about from a braking performance or safety point of view.
