Knock Sensor

Recommended Posts

Wiring up my Mi16 and run into a small problem.

I have used the 8v sensor loom which connects to the brown multiplug. This connects oil temp swicth, oil temp sender, alternator and starter solenoid. Also it plugs on to the large and small single spade terminals on the thermostat housing.

My Mi came from a BX and I have then used the injector loom from the BX loom. On this link loom additional to the injectors there are 2 x 2-pin plugs and a 3-pin plug. The 3 pin is the throttle position switch and I assumed the the 2 pin connectors were for the ICV and temp sender on the thermostat housing. Is this correct or are these two actually meant for the ICV and knock sensor respectively?

If this is the case then what connects to the large 2-pin on the thermostat housing, since the only other 2 pin plug available is on about an inch lenbgth of wire from the loom which I guess is a diagnostics port. Does this loom definately have a diagnostics port? I have been unable to decipher the wiring diagram in the joke book on this :(

Now I know I haven't chopped any plugs off and I was there when the loom was removed from the donor car (I may have done it myself but my memory is poor) and the knock sensor was apparentyl plugged in.

I am running a 3 row Motronic ECU so assuming it does actually need the knock sensor?

Please help if you can, this is so nearly ready it hurts, just need to butcher the rad fan cowling and bribe Miles with lots of beer tokens to mod my downpipe tomorrow.

Thanks guys

Sounds like you're missing a 2 pin connector somewhere to me

  • ECU temp sensor connector should be blue.
  • ICV connector should be routed along with the injector wiring and is black
  • Reverse light connector should be white
  • 4 x injector plugs should be grey or green and all be bunched together

Can't remember what colour the knock sensor connector is (I have got a 3 row loom outside if you want me to check), but it should be fairly obvious going by its position on the loom. You'll need it connected otherwise you'll be well down on power.

I assume in addition to the connectors you mentioned, you do have the AFM, coil, ignition amp, and CAS connectors as well, yes?

Definately a 3 row Mi16 loom you've got isn't it?

It's ok found it.

I am a complete numb nuts, lets just say it isnt an earth strap

As for the other plugs they are all the old s*itty Citroen ones so arent helpfully different colours. I have checked the injectors and I believe they fire in pairs, so 1 and 3 are on the same connection as are 2 and 4.

Hopefully I have the ICV and temp sender the right way round. As for that everything is ready, rad fan cowling has been butchered so I now have a (breathe in) 2mm gap between rad and inlet.

Hopefully Miles will have a spare half hour to reangle my downpipe (ooh err) and then its GO GO GO!

:(

Odd - the BX loom I've got has the different coloured connectors on it...
