pugman 0 Posted April 14, 2006 I am attempting to get the front wings off but they are well and truly bonded on. I've done a search and quite a few people have said its a pig of a job . Has anyone come across any decent sealant removers.

stu_woac 1 Posted April 16, 2006 when I restore a xs I took the indicator out put some nice big gloves on and pull very hard came off bend the damage wing alot more tho
Paintguy 0 Posted April 16, 2006 I always have a good old kitchen bread knife handy for doing similar jobs. Cuts through sealer quite well, and is flexible enough to bend into awkward bits. Also great for removing the stuck-on side mouldings and badges that most modern cars come with.
jack biscuit 0 Posted April 16, 2006 That's another top tip, i used an old chefs knife..!
DaveW 6 Posted April 16, 2006 heat gun is good for warming the sealant up too, makes it easy to cut..
Bats 0 Posted April 16, 2006 heat gun is good for warming the sealant up too, makes it easy to cut.. Use a ground down and sharpened hacksaw blade - heat it periodically with a blowtorch - it will mince through the pu seam sealer. Jim

Guest birdii Posted April 19, 2006 (edited) Heated up hacksaw blade was the method i used too, about 1-2cm at a time but you have your wing off damage free in a little over an hour! Just take your time it will come off without damage if you are carefull. Edited April 19, 2006 by birdii

Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted April 20, 2006 A long sharp knife seems to do the trick, but you need a bit of patience! Oh, and watch your fingers as I nearly cut the end of mine off last week!
