Guest mitchtech Posted April 14, 2006 Hi, I have a phase 2 1.6 205 with a sick engine. After looking araound my local scrap yard i came a cross this engine that looked similar to the MI16. Its in a xantia sx 2.0 16v. I would like to know weather its worth fitting and weather i had to change manifolds, gearbox ecu etc....etc.. not looking for anal performance just thought that if i am going to have to change the engine i may as well do a bit of an upgrade. any advice welcome. Regards, Mitch.
feb 47 Posted April 14, 2006 I think that's the 138bhp 16V one?
Guest mitchtech Posted April 14, 2006 guess its not worth doing then considering i had the more powerfull of the 1.6 engines.
jackherer 543 Posted April 14, 2006 I think that's the 138bhp 16V one? yeah thats the one. its probably not worth the effort of converting, they are good engines but a 205 1.9 8v lump will make 95% of the power and drop straight in.
Pug_101 0 Posted May 7, 2006 How does this engine differ from the more powerfull 16V engines? I am guessing the engine is the same, but with a mild cam, poor exhaust/inlet manifold. Can someone confirm this as I am close to buying one myself. Thanks
steve@cornwall 100 Posted May 7, 2006 I,ve come across these from time to time pretty cheap. Wondered about using one to get the conversion work out the way (bulkhead clearance, wiring etc.) so that when an mi comes up (at the right price of course) should be a straight swap? unless anyone knows different.............
