Changing A 106 Beam?

Recommended Posts

j_turnell

Mates 106 has failed its mot on its beam being seized on the drivers side.

How similar is it to a 205 beam?? can change those in my sleep, but not attempted a 106 beam, any major differences, it has drum brakes so obv cables and lines etc.

Any help/ advice will be greatly appreciated.

cheers, James :(

Fits and functions essentially the same as the 205 so you should have no trouble doing it :(

106 beam is actually the same design as the 206 and 405 beams, and hence mounts differently to 205/306/309 beams.

How does the 106 beam tube compare in size/design to the 205 one? I know that the mounts are different but what about the tube itself?

Completely different. 205 tube is hollow with the bearings inside and the shaft pressed into the trailing arm, whereas on a 106 beam the tube has the shafts pressed in and the bearings run inside the trailing arms.
