Craigb 2 Posted April 12, 2006 Just passing on my experience over the weekend on the way to the VK at the weekend, i drove over a few speed bumps , the left hand side of the car just took them in its stride , but the right side felt as though i had no suspension travel at all rock solid. i thought i had a bent strut or something , so i called AB motorsport . They asked when i last stripped the units !! Something i haven't done in 2 1/2 years Apparently they strip them every two events , as the top seal gets broken by mud and stuff from a gravel rally at which point the seal can let water in . Sure enough when i stripped them one was nearly full . so I wasn't getting much damping at all . the thing was hydraulicing itself solid .. needless to say it handles a lot better now

jonah 1 Posted April 12, 2006 That reminds me, I need to check mine. Last time I took them apart was after only 2 events and the seals were already damaged and they had some water inside. Was a bit annoyed to find that after spending so much money on them! I've now fitted gaiters to them (the ones off the standard shocks - they just about fit inside the springs) so hopefully they will help protect the seals from mud, water and gravel.
