Jonmurgie 2 Posted April 12, 2006 yeah, it isn't easy and there are a few ways of doing it... best way if you have the means is to BURN the fecker out, then the metal bit drops out and your done
Super Josh 4 Posted April 12, 2006 I did some recently and burnt them out with a blow torch, as everyone suggests. Lots of foul smelling smoke and used a cold chisel on the metal insert, right PITA. Then for the second one I used some M10 studding and selected suitable sized sockets, to act as a puller, liberal amouts of WD40 and just wound them out, very straight forward. Then just wound the new ones back in Josh
DaveK 0 Posted April 12, 2006 it wasnt complicated, just bloomin annoying! yea i burned the thing with a blow torch and cut away the metal sheath ive got a press so putting them back in should be a tad easier
GLPoomobile 958 Posted April 12, 2006 I tried burning standard rubber ones out with a blow torch and found it no good. After at least an hour I'd made no progress as the rubber doesn't burn, just goes crumbly and flakes off in little bits very gradually. Poly ones are much easier as the melt nicely, but leave a terrible mess.
rich_w 0 Posted April 12, 2006 No one bothers to get the old ones pressed out and the new ones pressed in?
GLPoomobile 958 Posted April 12, 2006 I will be when I get around to it, because as above I seem to be too retarded to be able to burn them out.
