hopefully someone can help on this one.

symptoms are.car was running o.k. no problems, i turned it off, came back a couple hours later and the starter was doing its usual click, click. it then tried to start but i turned it off because of the motion. then next try something clicked inside the car(not surewhat it was) but the car was completly dead. no battery light, couldnt activate alarm, like the battery was off.

so got a mates car to jump it off and it started first time. kept it running for about 20mins and went to the petrol station. where it again went completly dead. this time it took quite a long time to start, off another car. but the battrey is showing full charge but everythings dead.

i have checked everything quickly and cant find anything. i have took the battery to charge it just incase but the charger is not reading, like when its full. so i aint got a clue.

please help.

duff earth?

its my dad's answer to everything.

is the battery reading 12 volts on a multimeter with the engine off? if so i'd guess its the car. i had probs with battery terminals being slack, (but hardly enough to notice), nipped up, and cured it. otherwise, battery earth lead could be corroded/disconnected.

thats what i'd check on any car, someone here might know of a more 205 based solution.

Try the earth that goes from the battery to the gearbox as this always gets s*itted up. Have you checked that all the fuses are OK?

cheers for the replys.

i would have checked the battery with a multimeter but dont have one. i was going by what the battery and charger was saying. i ended out checking most wires i could(battery lead, earths, brown multi plug ect.) i even had a look at all the fuses and tried looking at the wires around there. but its just like a bowl of speghetti under there :D

anyway i hope i found the problem, from what it seams its the.........battery B) . although its indicaters saying it fully charged and the charger isnt reading its putting any charge in, i think its died. i had it on charge while i was messing about just incase and when i put it on it had a tiny bit of life. so i put a mates one on a hey presto everythings fine.

i dont think its the alternator not charging as i put a new one on a couple months ago and i checked both wires then to make sure.

hopefully that the end but ill soon let you know if its not.
