Guest ben205 Posted April 10, 2006 Hi, got a problem with my boot lock if anyone can help. It used to be just a little bit fiddley, but always worked. Now for the past 2 weeks its just completely stopped working and wont unlock Ive tried the obvious, but half a can of WD40 hasnt made any difference. I dont know whether its siezed or what, but theres no movement in it whatsoever. Any advice? Im in no rush like i said its been like this for a couple of weeks now. Can it be opened from the inside?how? as far as i remember the boot is chocka block with rubbish so that could prove difficult.
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted April 11, 2006 It is possible that the central locking motor has seized which will stop the boot from unlocking. You can open it from inside, take the black inner trim panel off & if the motor is seized unbolt it from the hatch & then turn the body of the lock & pull the moving section into the car so it unlocks. If you can't do this then mark around the latch plate on the body with a marker or something & remove the two 10mm bolts so the boot can be opened & you can work on it from outside. Graham. rjw205 8 3 Cars Posted April 11, 2006 If the central locking mechanism has locked out on the boot.. take the locking hoop off the slam panel.. like Graham mentions above, and take out the little rod which links the lock to the cental locking 'pod'. The rod is bent over at the end. Then hopefully you'll have a manual lock on your boot. Hope this helps Rich
Guest ben205 Posted April 11, 2006 Thanks alot guys but i should've mentioned its a manual lock, not central locking. I havent attempted getting at it as yet, but i know that black panel just pops off. Once i get in do you reckon the whole locking system/barrel will just bolt off and remove? Thanks
hd_andy 2 Posted April 11, 2006 The lock is held on by a U shaped clip, you have to take the clip off then unhook the lock from the metal rod
