Dave_McC 0 Posted April 10, 2006 I'm removing my phase 1.5 dash to get at the heater unit, and am struggling to remove the lower left dash panel. I've removed the centre console and all the bits in the centre - clock, etc, and the glovebox. The whole panel is now loose except where it appears to be clipped somehow into the upper dash panel. How do I separate these 2 parts without breaking them? Cheers Dave
Batfink 201 Posted April 10, 2006 there are 2 or three screws you have missed that you need to look upwards to see
Dave_McC 0 Posted April 10, 2006 Aha - that might explain it not wanting to move then - doh!! Cheers Dave
hengti 2 Posted April 10, 2006 they're hidden right under there - real nause of a job - you might want to open your sun roof, so you've somewhere to rest your feet ... tbh, it's easier to leave them connected and take that panel off with the rest of the dash is it the heater itself you're trying to get at? if it's only the matrix - 'stop right there'! as you don't need to take dash out to get at it (wish i'd known that before giving it a go myself!) Dave_McC 0 Posted April 10, 2006 Hengti It's the control panel PCB assembly I need to get at - it seems to have died and the fitting that was once attached to the back of it which controls the flaps is hanging loose. I'm either going to try to repair the existing one, or plan B is I already have a complete replacement heater assembly. Cheers Dave
GLPoomobile 958 Posted April 11, 2006 I never managed to find the screws that hold the main dash and the lower dash together, and I had a damned good look. Dr Suess told me that they are clipped or screwed together from behind and that you have to remove the whole dash to seperate them.

Dr Suess told me that they are clipped or screwed together from behind and that you have to remove the whole dash to seperate them. they are accessible - they screw up vertically from underneath the lower dash panel i think there are 4 - atleast 2 of them are particularly difficult to get at - so you might only be able to 'feel' for them with a screwdriver it's 'easiest' to wedge your head in the footwell, with the rest of your body upside down and pointing towards the roof (feet on headrest - or, if you're a freak, out of the sunroof) if you've got to take the dash out anyway, it's not worth disconnecting them - as they're really fiddly to do!
