Dixon 1 Posted April 8, 2006 On the gti-6 engine , the brown piece in the below picture with a connector in it and a hose going out of the bottom, anyone know what it does? Circled in the below pic found on the left hand side of the engine bay. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c67/alan...5/DSCN6933a.jpg I'm assuming something to do with fuelling but have no idea, Thanks. jochem 0 Posted April 8, 2006 Its indeed a fueling / gasses valve (no clue as to the uk name). Connect it to the black box in front of the throttle body and connect a blocked off hose on the other side of the valve.
pugrallye 0 Posted April 8, 2006 (edited) its the charcoal canister purge solenoid valve, connect the union with the plug end to an intake breather (as in your photo, lol), and other end vent to atmosphere, do NOT block other end up, as its designed to vent to atmosphere via a charcoal filter, since your not using the filter, must leave the end free, or vent it to an oil catch tank. Dixon 1 Posted April 8, 2006 (edited) Thanks guys, i'll run a pipe from it to somewhere under the car then. Hopefully gonna get this baby running today, at long last!! On last one... Which fuel pipe is the in and which is the return on the top of the engine? i.e. which one comes from the filter? In the pic below, is it the red or blue that comes from the filter? Cheers.
