Owain1602 0 Posted April 7, 2006 hi, im just thinking of re-building one of my 1.6 engine. any ideas how much a full re-build would cost in terms of parts as ill do the work my self. Im just gonna use the current pistons and liners but get them honed and put new piston rings. Any past experiences or tips you guys recon i should know? Also, an interesting quiestion for the likes of Dave Baker or Mattsav. Got an A3 TDI in work with snapped cam belt, its bent 8 valves, i was taking the hydraulic tappets out and 3 of them were stuck solid in the head, tried to hit the valves back up with the cam out hoping it will push the tappet up but it just cracks a hole in the tappet which was no big deal as its getting everything new.
