SamGTi 0 Posted April 7, 2006 One of the hinges that hold the bonnet on my 205 has come loose and it is causing the bonnet to sit slightly raised when shut. The bonnet is held on by 2 small metal hinges either side and it the smaller, further back one of these hinges that has come loose. It's still attatched to the bonnet but come off the bodywork. Does anybody know how the hinge attatched back to the bodywork? There is a very small bolt in the hinge which could have sheared off or maybe it will need to be welded? Either way, space is very restricted and I can't see how it goes back on! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
jochem 0 Posted April 7, 2006 The bolt is prolly broken. If you weld it there will be no more movement in the hinge to open or shut the bonnet. Pretty nasty to get in there and take the broken blot out i asume. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Baz 421 Posted April 8, 2006 Seems a common problem, happened on a few of my 205s and Paxo now too. Most of the time you can drill out the old stud and get away with putting a nyloc nut and bolt in it. But, it sounds like yours is where the actual hinge attaches to the car itself, tricky but can be done, i did when changing engines, as probably easier to have the whole bonnet off, and plastic scuttle panel out of the way, drill out the old bit, and there's a (very) small hole you (or some1 with small hands) can get a nut behind so you can put a bolt to it, I'm pretty sure this is how we did it, or as said may have been re-tapped, i have the memory of a goldfish so will ask the genius that is my Dad to make sure!! Rob I probably could live with it but it's just annoying to see the bonnet sitting about 1cm higher on one side. You can't really notice it unless it's pointed out but I like things to be perfect!
