Sergy 0 Posted April 4, 2006 Just had a quick look at my top engine mount today on my 1.6 GTI and noticed that its not very central in between the top mount buffer. Its tight up against the top mount buffer. What would cause this? I'm guessing its going to pass a lot more vibration into the bodyshell if its tight up against the buffer and I can feel vibrations from inside - particularly though the dash. Cheers,
hengti 2 Posted April 4, 2006 (edited) buffers should be shimmed up to meet the alloy mount - could try using washers etc edit : don't worry that it's closer the top buffer than the bottom one - there's always going to be variation in different cars; besides, it doesn't look too squished up. Just shim the bottom one in a bit Edited April 4, 2006 by hengti
Guest yaztromo Posted April 4, 2006 That looks ok. Mines a lot worse than that and it's not had any problems.
SamGTi 0 Posted April 4, 2006 Yeah mine were the same when I fitted my Grp N buffers so I just used a washer to space one towards the mount.
