Rear Beam Gti1.6 Problem

Recommended Posts

Guest 205CTI-il

my friends car is 205GTI has a 1.6 rear beam his car`s not so lowered but its a bit low,

when he drives in rough road u kinda feel like the car crash`s into the bumpes at the rear.

the rear shocks are original and are almost on close mode.

when u jump on the rear side of the car , it is almost doesnt get low at all mybe just a bit.

no free spaces at the wheels when you move them to the sides.

Well What do U Guys THink?

1. To buy Repair Kit ?

2."Tierd" Toe Bars?

3. The Whole Beam Bad , And needs to be Change.

thx

Eddie

The beam sounds totally shot mate. Mine was the same, no suspension travel at the rear, siezed. Very dangerous to drive also, destroyed the handling.

Probably beyond economic repair, so option 3

I agree, the rear beam sounds to be seized solid like it was on Dream Weavers car.

Replacement beam required.

Yep, mine was crashing like mad over bumps and made me feel sick.

Now changed and rebuilt by pugtorque and its feels great  btw Graham, noticed the new beam has also got rid of the rear wheel being out of alignment - both wheels now sit in the middle of the arches

Another thing for those with uneven gaps to check then. :D

Bump stops only really have an effect when the suspension is compressed fully.

I've never had any fitted, originals fell off. Have some Powerflex ones here, but cant get the cups off :)
