Underseal?

Owner before me has covered the arches in underseal, anu way of getting this off as i like my arches clean with paint showing!

 

Its think black stuff..

If its solid underseal then wire brush on an angle grinder - if its the sticky stuff that doesn't cure then best bet is as above like Shaun said

Just to add - when scraping off the black, non-setting kind of underseal, use Seans suggested method, but make sure you use a wooden or plastic scraper so as not to ruin the paint underneath.

 

Kitchen utensils come in handy here, but don't let the other half catch you!! ;)

I think the black stuff is soluble with white spirit, whereas the original underseal isn't so a cloth soaked in white spirit will be good for getting rid of the tar-type underseal.
