888rmb 6 Posted April 2, 2006 I would say an FSE power boost valve makes a negligble difference on a standard car. Keep your money and spend it on something else.
Wurzel 16 Posted April 2, 2006 I would suggest a search on the subject of both queries really. There is a pretty good discussion on the larger throttle body from quite a while ago. The fuel valve also meets with mixed reviews. Back to back rolling road sessions are the only real way of determining whether or not mods are valid in their claims etc. The throttle body change is a relatively easy and cheap mod you can try out yourself. The fuel valve is a little more expensive and I'd personally not try this out until using a modified engine. Have a look around the forum first though
RobMGti 0 Posted April 2, 2006 imo having used an fse on a modified 8v it certainly helped when setting it up on a RR, i cant say if it made any difference in power but it helped getting it spot on As to the 68mm TB, i tested one of these for hiflowheads (but again this was on a fairly tuned 8v) and it made a big difference to low end drivebility and torque. The car would happily pull from below 2k with similar get up and go to that of standard car just below 3k. I really enjoyed it and if i got another 205 at some point i would certainly get one again. Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted April 2, 2006 Ive just ordered one, see my thread in XU service forum for reason why. I'll post back with results when its rr tuned again.
Carl Chambers 7 2 Cars Posted April 3, 2006 I had one on my stardard 1.9 and it ran like a bag of cr@p no matter how hard I tried to set it up. It also drank loads of fuel and wasnt any quicker so I took it of and binned it!! Now it runs fine! Think they are only worth having on highly tuned engines.
