roland rat 11 Posted April 1, 2006 hi there all!ive just bought a 2nd hand 1.9 engine that has had some work carried out by slark racing engines a few years ago.dont know the exact details of whats gone in/been done to it but the guy i bought it off claims that it produced 180bhp and that its bored out to 2.1.does any one know/had any thing similar to this?oh yeah this is my is post so no making fun of me please!! roland rat 11 Posted April 1, 2006 (edited) yeah know what you mean/you cant beleive what people say.took it with a pinch of salt.the engines running and was in the car when i bought it,seems a little quicker than my cat engine(mind you thats got a blowing exhaust!lol)it came with a stainless magnex system including manifold and i noticed a veiner pulley on the cam.was just wondering if anybodys got an engine thats been modified by slark racing and sounds similar to mine? :unsure:forgot to mention that is got a k&n filter,oops! roland rat 11 Posted April 1, 2006 its jus a k&n on the afm.suppose to have a big valve head,lighten flywheel balanced crank etc but wont know until i strip in down.looks like im gona have to buy another gti while mines having its guts ripped out!just put the post on to see if anyone has had/got a similar lump to mine by slark enginnering.oh well worth a pop Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted April 2, 2006 What do the receipts show as having been replaced on the engine? This should give you an idea of if the seller was talking BS or not. To get the 2.1l you need over bored liners taking them to 86mm & new pistons & rings to suit & they aren't cheap so hopefully they are listed on there. Graham. roland rat 11 Posted April 4, 2006 just an update.had a lovely suprise when i got home today from work.the guy i bought the engine off had posted the recipets for the work done to the engine.this is whats been done to it= slark race enginnering rally spec bored out to 2.1 with new pistons and linears fitted,crankshaft polished,lightened and balanced,gas flowed cylinder head,upraed piper camshaft and veiner pulley,lightened and balanced flywheel,full stainless magnex exhaust system including manifold.uprated organic clutch.total cost to him £2674.21!!!!things are looking up for my pocket rocket for a change Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

roland rat 11 Posted April 6, 2006 got all this little lot for £300 of the queens finest pounds!!! it was rolling roaded at 180bhp wen built nem but with no printout i cant prove it.jus need to buy bigger stoppers now and my bank holiday transformation can begin!!!!
