Under Car Fuel Line Clips And Replacement

Recommended Posts

sonofsam

Hi people.

Just started to have a look at replacing my rusty fuel lines, the car is a 1.6

However the set i saved from the green machine are 1.9 ones and clips have three slots instead of two on the car at the mo.

what im wondering is can i leave the existing clips were they are refit the good fuel lines and have the brake line(1.9 brake lines on a 1.6) zip tied to the 1 fuel line,or buy some new 3 slot clips, the pegs on the 3 slot clips are snapped off so i cant reuse them, should of been more carefull i guess.

also the union thats on the metal petrol line to rubber hose to feed fuel filter does that actually come apart,i undid the nut,but it would'nt come apart ,,, i did use some force. and i have searched but nothing i found was specific to this.

Thanks all

Sam.

If you intend swapping to the 1.9 brake pipe layout I'd try to get some new ones & use those but you'd be best asking an MOT tester if clipping the brake pipe to the fuel line would be OK.

As you've seen in the other topic the fuel pipe union should seperate.

Graham.
