petert 586 Posted March 28, 2006 (edited) Has anyone replaced a 2L oil pump chain? The one I bought recently from my usual supplier is made in India and has a removable link. I have no problems with the fact it's made in India, but the link is a concern. The OEM chain does not have a join. If installed as supplied and correctly, with the closed end of the join leading, the longer pins of the removable link foul on the pump spacer and the block. So I reversed the link and now have it facing outwards, towards the cover/seal. I'm still concerned about those longer pins possibly hitting the aluminium cover if the chain moves about. mfield 20 Posted March 28, 2006 Sounds a bit of a cowboy way using a removeable link, is it purely to save taking the end cover off the crank ?
Mattsav 1 Posted March 30, 2006 The AE chains also have a removeable link which is why I dont use them. Bite the bullet and buy one from Pug.
