A18_RYU 0 Posted March 27, 2006 hey all, i was looking through all the previous posts on this forum and i couldnt find anything about rebuilding this TU3S engine.... i have this engine sitting in my garden and as it has not been dry stored, i have decided to rebuild it and possibly put it into another 205. what are the kinda of costs i am looking at for the parts for this engine? anybody got any website for me to look at to find prices for pistons etc.... cheers Ryan
bren_1.3 1 Posted March 28, 2006 i happen to be in the same boat as you at the moment mate, except im not rebuilding the cylinder head. so far for the bottom end i figure on main bearing shells, and big end shells, as well as new conrod nuts and bolts, i also need the seals that go either side of the crank, and a little o ring on the back of the block. liners are going to need rehoning, and piston rings replacing. um theres a little rubber seal that sits on the bottom of the liner.... i could continue on this for a while, but its up to you how much money your willing to spend on it. im going the full hog and reckon on about £150. id suggest getting a complete engine gasket set from peugeot but i dont no the part number. have a look at my valve stem seals topic if you need part numbers for things. there should be a website link. christopher 5 1 Cars Posted March 28, 2006 A full gasket set (I got one from neat) is not a lot of money maybe £30 and has all the gaskets you need... Then its honing the cylinders piston rings ...not too much... but there are also other considerations like ovaled liners..etc... Minimum £150 quid like bren says..but probably more

bren_1.3 1 Posted March 29, 2006 cylinder head gasket - £22.50 + v.a.t number = 1 main bearing shells in various grades and prices: class A (green) grooved - £3.32 + v.a.t (each) number = 2 class A (green) plain - £3.62 + v.a.t (each) number = 3 class B (black) grooved - £2.84 + v.a.t (each) number = 2 class B (black) plain - £2.73 + v.a.t (each) number = 3 valve stem seal - £2.89 + v.a.t (each) number = 8 total = £83.00 add the cost for the gasket set at say £30.00 and so far you've spent £113. my crank is fine so doesnt need any machining there. i havent got costs for big end bearing shells, conrod nuts and bolts, cylinder head bolts and a few other odds and ends. also my liners need rehoning and need new rubber seals, aswell as new piston rings. i also havent figured in a new crank sprocket, or cam belt tensioner, or any silicon sealant..... it costs more than you'd think to rebuild one of these properly. Rippthrough 98 Posted March 29, 2006 (edited) cylinder head gasket - £22.50 + v.a.t number = 1 valve stem seal - £2.89 + v.a.t (each) number = 8 total = £83.00 it costs more than you'd think to rebuild one of these properly. Just make sure you get one from a decent brand, I've seen some of the white box stuff sold by our local "avoid like the plague" place appear to be worse than the worn ones you've just took off
