Brake Pads (307 / 206 Conversion)

Recommended Posts

Simon B

Hi everyone...

Im just about to carry out the 307 / 206 283mm brake conversion on my 205 mi16, and am debating which brake pads to use.

I know some people use standard 307 / 206 pads and say they're perfectly adequate, but im sure some of you most use uprated pads?

Ideally i'd like something like a Feroddo DS2500 or equivalent....

Does anyone know of any companies that supply uprated pads for this brake conversion as i cant find any so far :D

Thanks for your help :D

Nige

P.S edited to say, the car is mostly going to be used for track, so must get pads which are up to sustained hard braking!!!

Well you don't need specific pads for this 'conversion'... you just need to look at the pads available for the 206/307 calipers. To be honest I'd expect your be fine with standard pads as the 206 and 307 are a fair bit heavier than a 205 so you won't need to 'use' the brakes as much.

If you did want to uprate the pads then Mintex 1144's seems to be popular :D

Thanks for the reply Jon!

Yeah i realise that i dont need 'specific' pads for the conversion, sorry! I just meant what uprated pads are there for these brakes (ie for the 307 / 206) as i cant seem to find any as such!

I'll bear the Mintex 1144's in mind though - can you suggest a supplier??

Anybody else have any good pad suggestions that are available for the 307 / 206?

definately do a search. I've just done a quick one and got these which may be useful for you:

http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?s...1&hl=brake+pads

I've got mintex 1144s and they seemed ok (used them on half a track day before engine blew!), although they squeek which pisses me off.

I have searched quite a lot already, and have seen the posts you linked to above! My problem is that I know what pads i'd like (say 1155s or DS2500s) but i cant find anywhere that sells them!

I need suppliers for 307 / 206 brake pads!!!! HELP (lol)

I couldn't find a great deal out there. 1144's are @ £100. EBC Greenstuff come in @ £55. Ferodo & Pagid don't list anything.

I've put standard Bosch on for now & will be testing them on track in 3 weeks or so.

Mark.

If you have a part number for the pads (look on the mintex website) then just phone any company that sell mintex pads and give them the part number. They should be able to get them in for you. Don't know about the cheapest places though, try redlinemotorsport though, i think they looked quite cheap when i was looking a few weeks/months ago.

Thanks for your reply mate!!

I've looked on Mintex's website (www.mintex.co.uk) in the catalogue section, but am now a little confused.....

I was expecting to see the same brake pad code for a 206 GTi as for a 307 HDi / 2.0 petrol.... but they have different pad codes?

Can anybody who knows have a look on there and tell me which ones i should need??????

the pads on the 206 gti 180 and 307 2.0's are the same type, but the gti uses a different compound. equivilent to the 307's using ebc blackstuff and the 206 gti 180 using greenstuff.

for the cost, id atleast try a pair of standard pads mate. i find them plenty fine both on road and track
