The Old Flashing Brake Warning

Recommended Posts

Rob_the_Sparky

Is this just a case of a dodgy sender for the brake fluid or something else? Both my 205 and 309 are now doing it and its beginning to get irritating!

The handbrake switch is connected to the same circuit.

also the brake pad ware indicators do too.

Sounds like a wire in that circuit is earthing on the body someware.

What's the fluid level like? Mine has done this before when the level was a bit low (still above minimum though), never does it when the fluid is topped up to max.

Pad wear sensors are a separate circuit btw.

I thought they were sorry!

Same warning bulb though isn't it? :D

Maybe it depends on the year / model then, mine definitely has a separate light (yellow / orange, circle with a curved dashed line each side of it) for the pad wear indicators.

I've had this problem on a few different 205s, and its always been the sender at fault. I think a lot of 205s are on the verge of developing this problem because everytime I've had it happen its been just after an Mi16 swap and its due to the extra power accellerating the car faster and showing up a dodgy sender sooner than an 8v would!

btw I agree with Jonah, the pad warning lights are seperate from the handbrake/low fluid light on every 205 I've ever seen.

Cheers, figured it was probably the senders but wanted to be sure before spending cash. Time to go buy a couple.

Oh and yes the fluid level is fine and it doesn't show the type flickering I'd expect from the handbrake switch. I also know it isn't the brake pad sensors because they are on a seperate circuit and I've cut them off anyway as they never worked!
