Sunroof Leak

Recommended Posts

Guest djuk

Just bought a new 1990 1.9 GTI and there after some heavy rain there appears to be some water leaking in around the sun roof handle and dripping down.

I would assume other people must have encountered this before but is there a known fix for it?

Thanks

David

Yes, the rubber washers under the sunroof screws need replacing.

I used some old record deck rubber slipmats for mine cut up, or just find some rubber washers at B&Q etc.

you can still get the correct fibre washers from peugeot dealers, my local one has them on the shelf for 23p each!

i had the same problem, but on mine the screws were totally rusted meaning i couldnt remove them to fit a new washer. to avoid having to drill them out i used a small bit of clear bathroom type sealant. bit of a bodge but has done the trick!

Yes, the aerials leak as well - just put some clear silicon around it underneath.
