As far as i'm aware, the late model 1.6 and jetronic 1.9 are identical. The motronic 1.9 has a different cam i think, for emissions and the cat and the earlier 1.6 head is different, i think the cam is different too (pretty damn sure!!).

Pulleys are identical as far as i know.. i can't see any differences through out the xu's...

But i'm posting this as much to confirm that this is true as help you chief.. wait for a reply from the experts first!!

Camshafts different between 1.6 & 1.9's & like Jack said even the camshafts on the same engine size differ from year to year in some instances.

Camshaft pulley has same part number for all years.

That is odd as the timing hole on the cam pully from my old 1.6 engine was in a slightly different location than the one on my 1.9. Surely if a different profile cam is fitted (i.e the early 1.6 cam) and the pulleys are the same then the timing will be wrong?

I checked the parts CD for the cam pulley numbers & they are all 0805 35. So I assume the cam is ground so the true full lift is at the same point.

The only 1.6/1.9 pulley I could find that was different was the XU9J2 D6D (405 SRi) one. As you say, certainly all XU petrol variants for the 205 and 309 are exactly the same part.

(is there another topic discussing this somewhere, as I could have sworn I replied with that a couple of days back? :P)
