Probably not have the wiring, I don't think they were even an option on the phase 1 205 1.6 GTi until after the 1.9 GTi started being made.

I don't think the fuse box is different though. Dash swaps are easy as the plugs fit straight over so maybe the holes for the central locking & electric windows will be there.

Graham.

Have a look at the fuseboxes, if they're the same (or at least have the same sockets in them) then it may well be a straight swap

I've been pulling my 1987 D reg CTi's dashboard apart today to see what wiring is in place for my planned electric window and central locking upgrade. I was quite surprised to find that all the wiring was in place upto the connectors under the dashboard on the passenger and drivers side (i.e. connectors in the fuse box etc.). The only bit missing is the door looms. So with a bit of luck you should only have to plug the door looms in and make sure you've got the electric window relay plugged in.

As you've got the door looms I'd be grateful if you could tell me which wires go to which pin on each of the electric window switches. I've got the Haynes manual diagram so I know which wire numbers go to each switch, but Haynes doesn't show which pin each wire goes to.

Haynes shows the following wire numbers:

Electric window switch - drivers side:

92

m2

m1

96

97

Electric window switch - (passenger) drivers side:

92b

m4

m3

94

96

Electric window switch - passenger side:

92a

94

96

96a

94a

What I need to know is which pin on the relevant switch does each wire connect to?

Sorry to hijack your question but I've searched for a definitive answer on the forums and not had any luck so any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers timmsy19,

The problem is I haven't got the door looms (only the wiring under the dash) so I'll be making the door looms up from scratch. Hence it would be useful for me if someone could look at the original door looms and tell me which wire numbers (i.e. 92, m2 etc etc) go to which actual pin numbers on the switches, would save me a lot of trial and error and probably a few fuses as well ;)

Just thought that as you were in the middle of doing this and had the looms too hand, you might be able to match up the wire numbers listed in my previous post with the pin numbers on the window switches

No worries if you can't help I'll just crack on and see how it goes.

Think I've sussed it ;)

The wiring for the central locking is self explanatory using haynes. I've been using Haynes for the wire numbers and a French manual called 'revue technique' for the electric window switch pin outs. You might think that Haynes wiring diagrams aren't great but the french manuals are on a different level of incomprehensible :)

Anyway using school boy french and a magnifying glass I think this is the electric window switch wiring.

Electric window switch - drivers side:

92 Pin 3

m2 Pin 4

m1 Pin 2

95 Pin 1

97 Pin 5

Electric window switch - (passenger) drivers side:

92b Pin 3

m4 Pin 4

m3 Pin 2

94 Pin 1

96 Pin 5

Electric window switch - passenger side:

92a Pin 3

94 Pin 2

96 Pin 4

96a Pin 5

94a Pin 1

I haven't wired this up yet so it hasn't been tested, but I'm fairly sure it's right. Hopefully this will be of some use to others making up their own door looms. Obviously if it all goes up in flames I'll let you know :)
