ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted March 22, 2006 Are headlamps from GSF any good? The cataloge I've got (2003) are £13.50 each. Are they any different to the Genuine ones? Alex
jackherer 543 Posted March 22, 2006 they are pretty cheap and nasty but they do the job OK. The only real problem with them is the sidelight bulb slot which the standard bulb holders dont fit into that well.
sekim 0 Posted March 22, 2006 The ones I got from GSF were Lucas ones and I think they're pretty good I'm fairly sure mine came with different sidelight bulb holders. Much better than the dull valeo ones with lenses that kept falling out that they replaced anyway!
jackherer 543 Posted March 22, 2006 how much did the Lucas ones cost? The cheap GSF ones I've seen were not made by anyone I've heard of and really are pretty rough.
ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted March 22, 2006 I'm after a pair as one has cracked, stone hit it or somthing. If I buy one they will be miss-matched. They arn't that old either (2 yearsish) I remember the original ones were made from a ceramic (they had a wolf logo I think on the lense) but the silver inside had started to flake because they were 14 years old I guessed. The replacements I bought from peugeot were Valeo but not as good as original as they were plastic with a glass lense. Do GSF sell both Lucas and Valeo? Which is best? Alex. sekim 0 Posted March 22, 2006 Looking on the GSF website they list: T94204 HEADLAMP-LH(BQ) 205 ALL MODELS 21.50 Not sure if they're the Lucas ones or not - I'd guess not by the description! The price sounds similar to what I paid. I'd try ringing up your local branch and ask
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted March 22, 2006 BQ means best quality. I've got a lucas one here & it seems good enough but I'll only know how long it lasts once I've fitted it to the car. Fairly sure that there is a Lucas on already fitted to my car & thats Ok though. Graham.
richsmells 2 Posted March 22, 2006 Do these come with adjusters? one of mine is buggered and the headlight sort of protrudes from the grille a bit. MOT soon too, so may as well treat it to some new eyes!
hengti 2 Posted March 22, 2006 the maker of whatever you buy from GSF seems a bit of a lottery (esp. with electrical gubbins) think they must keep stocks from various suppliers - all seems to go on the shelf under the same GSF part no though phone round and ask them to check what make their stock is if you're after Lucas

You can move the adjusters nearest the grill but it protruding slightly past the grille isn't an MOT failure anyway. Graham.
ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted April 5, 2006 I went to GSF Leeds at the weekend. They had a pair in like they said on the phone. Trouble was one was Lucas and the other was Valeo. Both were very similar but I wanted a matching pair. I couldn't tell which was the better though as they're pretty much the same apart from the logo on the lense. I said which ever you can get hold first to get a matching pair. I was offered a discount too £19.99 each (supposed to be £22.) .
