Question About Flexi Lines

Recommended Posts

Russelltp

I'm replacing all the brake lines on my 1.9 205 at the moment and i've noticed that the flexi lines that are on the car going around the beam have female unions at both ends whereas my replacement flexis have female at one end and male at the other.

Has anyone come across this before as I'm assuming I've been sold the wrong parts?

The near-side beam hose on a 1.6 is a male/ female. They may well have given you 2 of those, by mistake. If they're Goodridge hoses I wouldn't be suprised if they're wrong. The first set I got from them had the wrong thread size on all the female ends!

did you buy them separately or as part of a kit? what make are they? should go straight on if they're from a kit and the oe brake pipe unions haven't been changed on the car

you might need some sort of sleeve nut to convert the fixings

The kit for standard 1.9 gti should have 2 female/female hoses to go over the beam tube (as you have on your car now). So the kit you have is wrong.

I bought them as indivdual pipes as they are standard rubber ones and not a kit. Looks like GSF screwed up. :(

Seem to recall that two of the rear flexi pipes on ABS equipped cars are different to the norm just incase that makes any difference in your case?

Sounds like the 1.6 and 1.9 difference to me, and given GSF are involved almost certainly their screw-up

It was GSF, got the right parts now - cunningly listed under 309 drum brakes part no T65708 and says on the packet 205 GTI/CTI 1.9
