Hi Guys,

OK the car keeps idling about 1700-2k so I was reading up about the AFMs on here and there was people saying that they rotated the AFM so the plug pointed down, I moved it slightly and idle did drop and when it returned to its original poition the idle went up again.....am i going to cause any issues by loosing off the AFM and moving it properly and also should I retrack it at the sametime?? has anyone else had this on there MI16??

Ta

Ok I rotated the afm and the revs have dropped to a constant 1500k which I know is to high but its an improvement, maybe Ill try the re tracking during the week.

rotating the AFM shouldn't affect the idle really. I've had a similar problem and it was caused by a split on the hose that connects the AFM to the throttle body (where the idle control valve or breather hose connects) so you may have the same problem and you've moved the hose while rotating the AFM.

btw, its not possible to retrack an Mi16 AFM in the same way as an 8v one.

Sounds like an air leak do a search, the angle of the afm makes bugger all difference.

Cheers I will check for leaks at the weekend, if it is wheres a good place to get a replacement??....also just to note when I started this morning from cold, the cold start rev's used to be 2k and stay around 1900k on tickover after it warmed this morning after turning it it rasied to 2.7k on cold and then rested at about 1500k....so the warm idle is lower but the cold Idle is higher!!!!...does this mean the AFM is no good or something else???

Thanks

Could be overfuelling due to a dodgy temp sensor. Could be the wiring to the AFM and make sure the throttle butterfly is closing properly. Could be the AFM, but not angle dependant... cheapest option is the wiring and temp sensor :)

overfuelling wont make it rev higher, to do that air has to get in somewhere.
