Relocating Ariel?

Recommended Posts

kate205gti

ive just broke my cti ariel trying to take the roof down without pushing it forward enough :) but it is in a very stoopid place for a cab (ie: just where the roof comes up!) so was thinking of relocating it ofr doing something that meant i could get my roof down without bashing it every time!

what have other cti owners done with it? or is it really just a matter of getting out and moving the thing every time?

cheers ;)

I have a stick-on aerial just behind the rearview mirror. Nothing on the outside anymore.

CTIs with electric roofs have non-adjustable aerials - you can try getting one :)

Kate's does have an electric roof... :D

It wouldn't be too hard to relocate the aerial somewhere else, but a solution more like Hilgie's would be better in my opinion as it wouldn't involve any bodywork modification or ruining the car's lines. Obviously if you remove the aerial then you'll have to get the hole where it used to be filled and painted.

Id just come back from pub and seemed like good thing to try while I was putting the stereo in :D

the ariels removed itself now - at 80mph up the A1  obviously household glues not as strong as it looks :P

When i first got my gti some previous owner when cutting the stereo cables also decided to chop the ariel one aswell  so rather then run a new one i just brought a little stumpy one ( i think its for the inner wings on cars :P ) from a motor factors and just stuck it in the pocket under the steering wheel and ran the cable to the stereo ....nice quick and easy job plus cracking reception

Yes, the only rules regarding links (as far as I remember) is that ebay links go in the Off Topics if theyre of interest unless your selling the item in which case they go in the For Sale forum.

Post it up as Im sure theres a few people whod be interested.

i can't recommend them as i've never used them, but was browsing for something else and came across it. as some old advert once said, 'i saw this and thought of you'!!

let us know if they are any good, always useful to know.
