Crank Pulley

Recommended Posts

309PUG

Hi,

Looking at the crank pulley end of a 1.9 XU 8v engine there are 2 pairs of bolts either side of the pulley approx M8, each pair is spaced about 3 inch apart in a near verticle line.

What are they there for, what do they hold onto, I need to remove the left hand pair to mount my CPS bracket and I don't want anything to fall off inside.

If you mean these two then you'll be fine

They just hold the end of the crank case on but there are still 4 or 6 bolts still atttached after removing those two.

Hope that helps :)

I certainly do mean those, many thanks. Made my own design bracket in the end.

Don't those two hold the end plate onto the block just outside the oil pump chain?

I wouldn't remove them, especially not on an engine used in competition.

Have you got around removing them Chris? If not would it be possible to use a countersunk bolt in place of those?

Graham.

I read it as " remove the bolts to place the new cps sensor, then replace them "

Will need two spacer behind the cps bracket mind you so you can put pressure back on when refitting the bolts.

like so:

Thanks for the words of caution Graham, but I do intend to be replacing the OE bolts which will also act to clamp my CPS bracket.

So did I but I wanted to make sure to avoid any problems mid race.

Graham.
