Suspension When Jacked Up Question

I changed the front brake pads this afternoon and noticed that when I jacked up the nearside front corner the nearside rear tyre was still just touching the driveway but when I jacked up the offside front corner the offside rear tyre was at least a cm off the drive.

 

What's the reason for this then? Has the trailing arm seized on the offside or is it caused by something else such as uneven handbrake??

It's clearly knackered Kris. You'd better remove the engine and scrap the car :)

 

On a slightly more serious note, it's probably just an uneven driveway or you were jacking one side higher than the other.

It can also be caused by weigh distribution of the car, as its not perfectly equal it might lift on one side only. You might find that lightly pressing on the rear quarter where the wheel lifted and the car would easily rock to the floor.

 

Once when I jacked up my 205 under the subframe nearest to the drivers side wheel (so pretty much the whole front end comes up), the right rear wheel might lift a bit too, but if I remove that right rear wheel the car usualls "falls" onto the front left wheel and only needs a little bit of weight to bring the rear back. This happened once when I was changing the wheels quickly but as there was no wheel on the front left it fell on the brake disc :Wacko but didn't do any damage since it was almost balanced so didn't fall heavily.
