M@tt 77 Posted March 12, 2006 (edited) thought i'd finally get to staret the mi16 today, what a mistake that was!! i nipped round halfrauds this morning and spent £40 getting fluids for it so then filled the engine with oil no problems and then water and that's where the fun started!! water pissing out of the distribution block on the back. not the easiest thing to get to!! so spent practically all afternoon sorting that out as it turned out one of the hoses had a hole in it and also the distribution block is in two piece screwed together and this was leaking where they joined!! then leaked from the gasket when i refitted it! then i also had another leak at the front of the block which was just weird as it didn't appear to be the coolant hose but water was dripping off the sump coming from the front of the block. Well i eventually got that all sorted which left me with about 30 mins to start her up before i had to get back for food. connected up the start wire to the ignition, spark plugs out coil unplugged and cranked her over and all was well!!! see vid www.buzzboxx.co.uk/HPIM0994.mpg so then i popped the plugs back in, reconnected coil, crossed my fingers and tried to start her,....nothing i couldn't hear the fuel pump priming or pumping when it was cranking so i thought it might be knackered, so i unplugged the fuel pump plug and put a multimeter across it and cranked her again. The plug was registering a varying voltage of between 4-7 volts ?!? i then ran some wires from the battery straight to the pump to check that the pump was working and it was so it appears that it is something to do with voltage getting to the pump. i'm going to do a search but any ideas off the top of your heads as an order of things to check? cheers Matt Edited March 12, 2006 by M@tt

futura 3 Posted September 21, 2006 A friend had a similar issue as yours Matt and it turned out to be a loose/nackered wire before the pump relay.
M@tt 77 Posted September 21, 2006 should have posted up before this seemed to clear up not long after getting the engine running (with no reoccurance of it), sorry tat's not much help then had an oil leak from a loose pressure switch sensor if thats any consolation
