Replacing Vacuum Advance Unit

Recommended Posts

Dave_McC

The vacuum advance capsule on my 1600 cti is knackered, so I've removed the distributor from the car and tried to remove the vacuum capsule - it's a Bosch dizzy with part No 0237 009 066, and the advance unit is held on with 2 small bolts. Searching old threads indicates the operating arm unhooks from the dizzy internal mechanism, but I can't seem to get it to unhook. Is there a knack? Which way does it unhook?

Also, from old threads, it looks like I have a 1.9 dizzy fitted - is this likely to be a problem?

Thanks

Dave

should just unhook - there's a simple hole in the arm coming out of the vac adv which slides over a pin inside the dizzy

if you can't get it off, I'd be worried something was bent

edit - if you've removed the two screws, you should be able to move the adv unit around and see inside for an idea of how it should come off
