Throttle Cable Bulkhead Fitting

Reshelling the race car and i'm trying to fit the throttle cable.

 

On the old car the throttle cable routed through the bulkhead via an oblong rubber gromet thing which contained a ball. The ball swivelled inside the gromet which fed the cable in the right direction.

 

On the new car the hole in the bulkhead is round rather than oblong, so the gromet just falls through into the cabin. Bugger.

 

So, question are: are there two different fittings for throttle cables through bulkheads on 205's? (I've no idea about the history of either of these cars, there's even a chance that the later one isnt a gti). Also, what do i need to mount a throttle cable through a bulkhead?

 

There's also a chance that i've really screwed up somewhere (lost the original gromet and picked this oblong thing up by mistake)
