Owain1602 0 Posted March 11, 2006 I have just got my serviced 40 DCOE. The numbers on the top are 40DCOE29 and 40DCOE30, not sure exactly what the last two numbers mean. Any way, one thing i was thinking about was the master carb has two new brackets either end of the throttle shaft, one is the main one where the linkage will be connected and the other is the one with the screw for connecting carbs together, both levers on the main carb are ok. The connecting lever on the slave carb is ok but the lever on the other side which would normaly be the main lever for that carb has been bent to a different shape and another lug welded to it. Im concerned about this as will i need to use this lever in any way? It sits on one end of the complete set-up and not part of the middle section where the balancing part for the two carbs is. Also, im gonna get the Webcon Inlet manifold for these, product number MM4980A im not sure wether the gaskets and rings and things i need to seal the manifold to the head and the manifold to the carbs come with the manifold? Anyone purchased this from Webcon? Also, im going to be running Omex 100 mapped ignition and the TPS needs to be mounted on the carbs, im getting the TPS and mounting kit from Webcon but again, the welded lever thingy come up. I hope some experienced guys see this and help me with their wisdom or someone else who had a similar problem. Thanks.
mfield 20 Posted March 11, 2006 I hope thes pics can help you out In this picyure you can just the bracket on the throttle shaft which has a small bent up bit http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/masonl6/Image041.jpg The webcon tps kit bolts down on the end of the carb and a fork on it to fit over the bracket on the throttle shaft http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/masonl6/Image076.jpg And here is a pic of them joined together http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/masonl6/BC20272.jpg
Owain1602 0 Posted March 11, 2006 oh right i see, that helps quite a bit. so really you're saying if i can get that welded lever off from the end of the throttle shaft it should be ok. i wander what has happened to the thread on the end of the shaft with it being welded :S so in order to mount the TPS the shaft has to go through the TPS so i presume the lever needs to come off anyway? do i get a connector with the TPS kit to wire the wires or do i need to purchase one? is it just a standard 3 pin plug? mfield 20 Posted March 12, 2006 With it being welded on the shaft it might be damaged but i would like to say for sure The shaft doesn't go throut the tps just interlocks with it, hang on ive found another picture that might help: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/masonl6/BC20202.jpg
Owain1602 0 Posted March 12, 2006 these are pictures of my carbs and my little dilema. i think they will work as i can just cut the levers which are not involved in the balancing part and drill a little hole in them and mount a return spring between the lever and the engine. but im waiting for my TPS to see how i can mount it. what do you guys recon? http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/owa...02/PICT0177.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/owa...02/PICT0176.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/owa...02/PICT0175.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/owa...02/PICT0174.jpg
Owain1602 0 Posted March 14, 2006 I have been buisy earlier with the dremel sorting out the throttle shaft with the weld. Ive done as best as was possible really, also got delivery of my webcon things. Another problem now, the mounting bracket for my TPS on the carbs has 2 holes for bolts to mount it on the body of the carbs but the model of carb i have has only room for 1 bolt, any ideas? i have some pics so you can get an idea of my problem. cheers http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/owa...02/PICT0181.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/owa...02/PICT0180.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/owa...02/PICT0179.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/owa...02/PICT0178.jpg
