Does anyone have any of these door locks?

Do people think they'd be worth getting? A freind of mine had some fitted to his R5 GTT, but not really sure if there's much point? :)

yep i would do the same if you really wanted some security. tbh if u have decent locks it doesnt really matter. if someone wants something from your car or maybe even your car they would just smash a window if they cant get tru the door lock so i doesnt really matter what u do

All 205 doors I've seen that have been forced have had the whole barrel screwdrivered out of the door so a stronger barrel would make no difference at all, they'd just rip it out of the door like a normal one.

Miles

If you know what to do you can break in without using the lock within 5 sec's and no damage at all, So it's only a extra visable warning to people

I'm sure I know the method you mean Miles :)

Learn't that one as a young lad, when I was a valeter/driver for a Nissan dealer. Breaking in to brand new Micras and Sunnys in seconds whilst leaving no damage :P

Onto the lock. As an extra security measure they might be worthwhile. I've seen similar types which have a largr outer diameter, and use a large washer and locknut on the back, to prevent them beng punched through or pulled out.

Someone once described security devices like an onion; using various layers which in themselves weren't foolproof, but when added together, would make a scumbags eyes water enough to give up and stop peeling through the layers, and go on to an easier target.

I fitted them to my white GTi when some kind hearted person tried to get in to nick my stereo at Leigh on Sea skatepark ages ago, they worked fine & also act as a dead lock so the old coat hanger trick shouldn't work but in practice you still could.

You have to file the door slightly to get them to fit in as they have wider slots on the lock than the priginal locks.

Not worth it imo as you can now get a new lock set for under £50 afaik.

Graham.
