Jonmurgie 2 Posted March 10, 2006 Well they are eventually part of the main car loom so you would have to split the whole loom open to remove them fully... best thing is just to cut them back as far as you can and wrap them in insulation tape

The engine management loom has two multiplugs connecting it to the main car loom under the dashboard. Unless you have an early 205 the dash gauge sender wiring will be integrated into the engine management loom so you'll need to seperate the relevant wires or ideally replace them all. Jonmurgie 2 Posted March 11, 2006 Sorry, I did actually mean the main ENGINE loom...
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted March 11, 2006 Pretty easy but it's somewhat dependent on what year your car was made. Early cars the ecu loom goes through the bulkhead seperately (on the drivers side of the bulkhead) to the main loom (passenger side) afaik but on most post 1990 its like jackherer says & the ecu is totally seperate so it doesn't take much (all go through same hole on drivers side). Worst part is removing the dashboard to get the ecu plug out. Some of the wiring you'll still need though iirc, coil & ignition amp but nonw of the injection stuff is needed. If your car has the carbs fitted there should be some spare plugs which can be removed along with the associated wiring although some are probably still plugged in (coolabnt temp sensor) but the wiring for the fuel pump relay will still be needed unless its been hard wired to the ignition switch & you have a seperate rev limiter imo. jackherer 543 Posted March 11, 2006 Worst part is removing the dashboard to get the ecu plug out. I've been known to cut the ecu plug off and pull the wires through without taking the dash out
205mattgti 0 Posted March 13, 2006 my car is a 1992 (k reg) there is just one loom that goes through the drivers side of the bulkhead. it then goes over the top engine mount and splits down into smaller looms. has anyone done this before and has a wiring diagram of wat u have to keep cheers matt
rich_w 0 Posted March 13, 2006 Matt, aren't you removing the engine soon? I would rip out the dash, it doesn't take too long to take it out, then trace the ECU plug wires though the bulkhead and work it that way.
