Kenballs 0 Posted March 10, 2006 I did a search on this but I never seem to get it to work properly, I'm fitting one of the angled plates to my mi16 to avoid bashing the bulk head and was wondering do I need two gaskets, ie. one between the head and plate and another between the plate and manifold? Also would instant gasket do for the inlet manifrold or do I need the genuine article for that? I know these questions have probably been asked several times but like I said, searchs don't seem to work for me for some reason. Cheers, Ken.
M@tt 77 Posted March 10, 2006 with regards to the angling plate you can either use 2 gaskets or you can use 1 gasket and some gasket paste. I'd opt for gasket though bit more expensive ~£12 from pug. Thats what i did with mine Not sure on the inlet although me personnally i'd always opt for a proper gasket just to be on the safe side.
5150maxie 0 Posted March 10, 2006 (edited) i used 2 exhaust gaskets on my angling plate.i got them from qep and not that expencive either. Edited March 10, 2006 by 5150maxie
petert 601 Posted March 10, 2006 (edited) Gaskets are unnecessary if the plate is machined to a reasonable finish. I use Silastic Copper Maxx. It's rated to 300+ deg. and is lamda sensor friendly. I use ThreeBond 1211 on the inlet. Edited March 10, 2006 by petert
jackherer 543 Posted March 10, 2006 I used two gaskets on both of the QEP plates I've fitted so far. I'm sure Matt said it would be fine to use one though.
Higgy 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Yep, I used 2 gaskets. I would recommend checking the tightness of the exhaust manifold bolts after you have been driving the car for a bit. I checked mine after about 1000miles and there were only finger tight!! Higgy.
