Mi16 Exhaust Plate

Recommended Posts

Kenballs

I did a search on this but I never seem to get it to work properly, I'm fitting one of the angled plates to my mi16 to avoid bashing the bulk head and was wondering do I need two gaskets, ie. one between the head and plate and another between the plate and manifold?

Also would instant gasket do for the inlet manifrold or do I need the genuine article for that?

I know these questions have probably been asked several times but like I said, searchs don't seem to work for me for some reason.

Cheers,

Ken.

with regards to the angling plate you can either use 2 gaskets or you can use 1 gasket and some gasket paste. I'd opt for gasket though bit more expensive ~£12 from pug. Thats what i did with mine

Not sure on the inlet although me personnally i'd always opt for a proper gasket just to be on the safe side.

Gaskets are unnecessary if the plate is machined to a reasonable finish. I use Silastic Copper Maxx. It's rated to 300+ deg. and is lamda sensor friendly.

I use ThreeBond 1211 on the inlet.

I used two gaskets on both of the QEP plates I've fitted so far. I'm sure Matt said it would be fine to use one though.

Yep, I used 2 gaskets.

I would recommend checking the tightness of the exhaust manifold bolts after you have been driving the car for a bit. I checked mine after about 1000miles and there were only finger tight!!

Higgy.
