Jonmurgie 2 Posted March 10, 2006 I have a brake bias valve to fit into my track car but need to make sure I understand how the braking system is going to be setup, so am after some advice. The valve has one inlet and one outlet... As I understand my 1.9 GTi has a diaginal braking system with brake compensators on the rear. Can someone tell me or show me a straight forward diagram on how I should re-plumb my braking system to get the front/rear bias valve in? Hope that makes sense! Cheers Jon

Butler 0 Posted March 10, 2006 (edited) Oh Jon, not used the search button. Shame on you. Its a doddle. Change the pipes on the master cylinder to split front to rear. T the rears into one, through the bias, split to the rear wheels. Are you going to fit an hydraulic handbrake too? Edited March 10, 2006 by Butler
Jonmurgie 2 Posted March 10, 2006 Too early in the morning (1am) to use the search!! Would I 'need' a hydraulic handbrake? As it's only track stuff and not rally stuff I didn't think there would be any benefit to it?
Phil 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Jon, I am doing exactly the same to mine at the moment. Are you changing to braided lines running through the car etc?
smckeown 1 Posted March 10, 2006 no need for a hydrolic handbrake, pete f uses his on track just to get more sideways
Butler 0 Posted March 10, 2006 You shouldn't need one, but thats not the point. mini round-a-bouts, t-junctions, u-turns are not quit the same.
Jonmurgie 2 Posted March 10, 2006 Not going braided pipe, too pricey really... copper will do for now, I can upgrade it in future if I want to I guess I'll consider the Hydraulic handbake then, but again, maybe ag a later date!
Butler 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Braided lines to replace the copper lines is purely cosmetic, not an upgrade.
Phil 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Is it easy to get the ends and fittings for copper pipe as well as all the stuff required to run it through the car (e.g. T Pieces etc)? I'd rather do that if it is cheap! Just called my local hydraulic engineers who do Goodridge -3 braided for £4.85/m which I thought was ok. I Have the Goodridge catalogue infront of me but no clue what parts I need!
rich_w 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Jon, i've got a brake basis valve on my '9 if you want to see what i've done. I should be going past'ish your area tomorrow at some point (I believe 'around the corner' from rob?) I could pop around and show you what I have done.
