Hello everyone... this is my 1st post! I can't believe how many people are out there keen for info on the mighty 205 gti! anyway getting to the point....

I have an oil leak somewhere. It seems to cover most of the engine but appears to be blowing from around the distributor/dip stick. I've replaced the dip stick and that has done nothing. If it is the dizzy - is it just a case of taking it off and replacing some gasket/seal or is a leak there an indication of a bigger problem? I've tried to search for this and can't find anything.

Any thoughts appreciated.

if the leak is coming from arond the dizzy area then its usually the seal on the dizzy or maybe the rocker cover.

get a new dizzy seal then unbolt the dizzy and pull it of the thermostat/dizzy housing. Remember to mark the dizzy/housing so when you put it bk on it goes bk in the same postion. The seal is on the end of the dizzy and will proberbly be cracked and gone a bit flat. remove the old seal and fit the new seal(make sure its not twisted when fitted in the groove) then refit the dizzy.
