GLPoomobile 958 Posted March 8, 2006 I'm referring to those chunky U shaped clips that hold the flexi pipes into the brackets, on the side where the copper pipes connect. Had to remove some of these the other day and they are now near the top of my list of most hated jobs What a pain in the ass! Can anyone give any tips on fairly easy ways to pull them off without resorting to general buthery?
smighall 1 Posted March 8, 2006 I just used a pair of mole grips and yanked on them. Maybe with a little help from Mr Hammer too.
Anthony 1,003 Posted March 8, 2006 Vice grips work for me, and once they've moved a little you can lever them off with a flatblade screwdriver. Not too bad on the front brakes, but the rear beam flexi's can be a right bar-steward at times...
Guest rick03054 Posted March 8, 2006 Get a good grip with the mole grips and wiggle them left and right while pulling, works for me.
rich_w 0 Posted March 8, 2006 I used a 'flat endded' punch and a hammer to knock it side to side, once they became a little loose I then used a large pair of pilers to wiggle them out.
GLPoomobile 958 Posted March 9, 2006 I thought these suggestions would be the most obvious approach, but when I was doing them they were a complete mare and I couldn;t get enough grip on the ends with my mole grips. As Anthony said, the rear beam ones are the worst.
Phil 0 Posted March 13, 2006 Took me about 30 seconds each at the weekend on mind doing the rear beam, use a 17mm spanner (I think) on the rubber side to turn it round, this leaves the trailing end of the clip sticking out from the mount a couple of mm, tap that up with a hammer then use a flat blade screwdriver and said hammer to do the rest. Easy!
pugrallye 0 Posted March 13, 2006 never used anything more severe than a flat bladed screwdriver, and just prise one corner up, then you have enough room in the centre to flick it off
