DaveK 0 Posted March 6, 2006 how do you measure a cam?? along with a pile of extra parts i got with my 205, a cam was one o them but i have no clue if its standard or aftermarket. is there a way to do determine what it is without fitting it to an engine? i have digital calipers so can get accurate measurements if thats how its done? cheers folks dave Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
petert 587 Posted March 6, 2006 You can measure the total lift with your calipers by measuring the difference between the base circle diameter and the overall height of the lobe. For duration however, you need to put the cam in a head with a follower, measuring follower lift versus degrees of rotation. Or take it to a cam grinder, or look for part numbers stamped or etched into the ends of the cam. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
