Mi16 Hesitant/missing Above 6k

alright people...

when i give my mi (which is on 45s) some beans it seems to miss and splutter a bit when over 6k.. it will to this then continue to pull then to it again.. but when driving normally its tottally fine...

its had the usual rotor arm,cap and plugs and i had the carbs balanced and had a compression test...

i did and search and one guy on here who had a simular problem, he said that it was his alternater giving up and not making enough power for the coil at high rpm..which made me think of mine as when i first start the car the battery light does not go off untill i rev it and when driving the battery light is on but ectremely dim.. it hasnt worried me though as ive never had problems starting even when it cold and i have to crank it for a while...

could this be my problem? and do i have a dodgy alternater? if not someone said it could be my coil.. how can i test these and how much are they? might just buy a new one..

also the guy who done the compression test said that it seemed a bit low.. he said it was about 150psi when cranked on the starter but they were all the same so said it seemed ok? is this ok?

cheers, jamie.

My battery light came on during driving (dimly though). I had the alternator refurbished and it went away. Never had a problem since.

Try swapping ignition amps see if that cures it.

is this the little metal box type thing next to the coil with about 8 wires going to it?

if so does this just unplug?

cheers, jamie.

that's the bad body, simply just unplugs, it's got one of those retaining metal paper clips types things around it so that might need prising off first
