Lower Strut Brace And Mi16

Recommended Posts

Paintguy

My Mi conversion is still a long way off, but I'm trying to get things together beforehand.

I'm looking at fitting upper & lower strut braces as well, but there's a lower one up on Ebay atm (item 8042023779 ) and the guy reckons it won't fit his car, as he has an Mi lump.

Can anyone confirm whether it'll fit or not?

Thanks.

It will only fit if the Mi has a tin sump, not the alloy finned one.

not too sure about that, i'd assume jonmurghie is running an ali sump in his mi16 powered 205

Cheers for that.

Looks like I'd better get the welder out and make my own then :D

EDIT: Looks like I'd better wait for more replys

Don't think that's true either as I have an Mi with alloy sump and the lower strut is fiitted.

As said, Jon murgie had his fitted to his car. but i know of a local lad with a Mi on 48s, and couldn't run one as it was rubbing the oil temp sensor.

His was a 1.9 16v.

Haven't tryed it myself though.

Yeah I have one on mine but I'm running the BX tin sump actually... for the added benefit of it though I'd cut some of the fins off the alloy some to get it to fit if it were me :)

On mine, with an untilted engine it hits the oil temp sensor on the alloy sump. So i couldnt fit one as there was no way around it unless i removed the sensor.

Thanks for all your replys chaps. It's a 1.9 with alloy sump I've got, just to clear that up.

The brace is going cheap atm, so it's probably worth buying just to try it. I guess I could always modify it a little if needed. :)
